Welcome to Part 2 of the 2025 Content Creation Kickstart series! With a strong foundation from Part 1, you’re ready to set actionable goals and create a flexible plan to keep your content creation process efficient and impactful.
It's story time
You know I am a planner if you've read my work or listened to my podcast episodes. I intentionally plan everything that I do.
If I'm working with a new piece of software, I have a pad of paper and pen next to me, and as I learn it, I create a workflow checklist.
That's one piece of the pie.
When you get on an airplane, that pilot, no matter how experienced or how many hundreds of hours they've flown, opens up their pre-flight checklist and runs down the list. And that's for a couple of reasons. Number one, to make sure nothing's missed. For themselves, but #2, for passenger safety.
So, equate passenger safety to post-production. If you produce content and work off a checklist, you'll save time in post-production.
Planning is not just a task; it's a journey toward achieving your goals. From setting goals, which we'll discuss today, to mapping out workflows, each step brings you closer to your desired outcome.
As your team grows, you don't have to write these workflow checklists; these standard operating procedures are already in place. However, you must review and finalize them, essentially 'putting a bow on it', to ensure they're ready for use.
Planning is important.
Please read this piece, download my free documents, such as a sample workflow checklist and a guide to setting effective goals, and make the most of your planning.
It might initially seem like a waste of time, but in reality, it's a time-saving investment. Effective planning will save you hours in the long run, making your workflow more efficient and productive.

Setting SMART Goals for Content Creation
Setting clear, realistic, and measurable goals is essential for consistent progress. The SMART framework helps you define goals that are:
Specific: Clear and focused on a concrete outcome.
Measurable: Include metrics so you can track progress.
Achievable: Ensure your goal is attainable within your available time and resources.
Relevant: Align your goals with your overall purpose and audience needs.
Time-Bound: Set a timeline to stay accountable.
